Description: Moulded marble base (w: 0.58 x h: 1.50 x d: 0.58).
Text: Inscribed on one face, from which a previous inscription has been erased: line 1 on the upper moulding, and line 16 on the lower nmoulding; lines 2-15 within a moulded panel (die, w: 0.34 x h: 0.88).
Letters: Fourth century CE capitals: line 1, 0.08; remainder, 0.05.

(scil. In honour) of Romulius. On account of the great moderation of his judgements and advantageous foresight and good fortune of his arrival (scil. among us), they (the Lepcitanians) set (scil. this) up to Laenatius Romulus, excellent man (of equestrian status), governor of the province of Tripolitania, in accordance with a vote of the most peaceful people and a decree of the most splendid city council, at their own expense.

Per la grande moderazione nei giudizi, e per i quanto mai salutari provvedimenti, e per il felice suo avvento, a Laenatius Romulus, uomo perfettissimo, governatore della Prouincia di Tripolitania, per suffragio del popolo quietissimo e per decreto dello splendidissimo ordine, a sue spese pose.

On account of such great moderation of judgements, and the soundest provisions, and the felicity of his arrivaline To Laenatius Romulus, of perfectissimus rank, governor (praeses) of the province of Tripolitania; by vote of the most peaceful people and by decree of the most splendid ordo; he set this up at his own expense.
